There is a lot of FUD out there regarding Flash and mobile platforms. Steve Jobs at Apple says Flash blah blah blah bad blah blah heavy blah blah so therefore no Flash. Well, it’s all just total bullshit.
The fact is that Flash DOES run on mobile platforms. Don’t believe the bullshit that people are spreading about Flash not running on phones. It’s all lies.
The proof is in the pudding though. LG has made Flash available to developers for quite some time now. IT IS NOT NEW! Here’s a snippit:
Introduction to Flash Lite
“Adobe Flash Lite is a lightweight version of Flash, designed for resource constrained mobile applications and portable electronic devices. Flash Lite developers/designers can create rich multimedia content like animations, cartoons, widgets, and games for mobile phones. Flash Lite 1.1 supports Flash 4 ActionScript, while Flash Lite 2.0 is compatible with Flash Player 7, and Flash Lite 3 is based on Flash 8. Flash Lite applications can be created either as standalone application or browser-based content. If a mobile phone has the Flash Lite standalone player, the content is played as a standalone application, otherwise it is played within the web browser in mobile phone.”
I repeat, this is NOT NEW.
So the next time somebody shoot their mouth off about Flash and mobile platforms, tell them to shove it up their ass.
And just to kick the Apple FUD shitheads while they’re down, Samsung bada also supports Flash. (DISCLAIMER: I am under NDA and cannot post anything from the bada site. I am posting only obviously publicly available materials.)
Search Google for “bada flash support” and you’ll get quite a few results:

And a conversation between developers over bada and Flash:
I made a simple test app to test the communication between Bada and Flash. The Bada app receives two vars from Flash and then sends back to Flash… (Original full thread here)
There’s a tutorial in the bada Developer Blog:
“Adobe Flash is one of the most popular and widely used frameworks for rich GUI applications, internet applications and games on mobile devices. Samsung bada provides excellent support for Flash with FlashLite 3.1.6 (equivalent to Flash 9, ActionScript 2.0). The bada Flash control is a user interface control that allows Flash application programmers to easily port Flash applications to the bada platform with minimal effort.”
The namespace and methods in the bada API are here:
bada API Reference > Namespace List > Osp::Ui > Osp::Ui::Controls > Osp::Ui::Controls::Flash
bada API Reference > Namespace List > Osp::Ui > Osp::Ui::IFlashEventListener
The original blog post is here.
FlashLite is the mobile version of Flash, and it’s been available for some time. FlashLite is on Adobe’s site here.
If LG and Samsung can manage to have Flash on mobile phones, why the fuck can’t Apple? Are they completely incompetent? Or is it all just out of Steve Jobs’ insatiable lust for control and his need to dominate?
So the next time some Apple fanboy rants about Flash and their support for Apple’s idiocy, tell them that other companies can do it and the whole “user experience” FUD from Steve Jobs is just pure fucking bullshit.
